MagtiCom selects Sicap for Interactive VAS

5 Jun 2008

Georgian mobile operator MagtiCom, a joint venture of US-based Metromedia International and Dr. Giorgi Jokhtaberidze, the son-in-law of former Georgian president Eduard Shevardnadze, has signed a contract with Sicap for the provision of a range of so-called ‘self-care services’ from the vendor’s Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) Menu Browser product suite. The Sicap USSD Menu Browser (UMB) is a dedicated service delivery platform for USSD services. It will allow MagtiCom to bring all of its value added services (VAS) under one access code, simplifying updates, user access and marketing of its services. Sicap says that UMB does not require an operator to run an over the air platform to manage service menus, as all data is stored in the network, not on the SIM card or handset. The new platform will be made available to MagtiCom’s one million-plus subscriber base.
