Indonesia to hold WiMAX tender in Q4

The government of Indonesia intends to launch an auction for 2.3GHz WiMAX spectrum in Q4 2008 Antara News reports. The country’s Director General of Post and Telecommunications, Basuki Yusuf Iskandar, is quoted as saying that there is significant interest in WiMAX and the government is now conducting tests with several companies. It is thought the Indonesian authorities will try to ensure that local products are used in any infrastructure built for WiMAX networks, the paper said.
