Datacom plans large GSM tender

Ravi Sharma, MD of Datacom, has told reporters that the company plans to issue a tender for up to 70 million GSM lines next week. Videocon, parent of Datacom, had previously announced plans to invest around USD1.4 billion in telecoms, but it has now doubled that figure to USD2.8 billion. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Datacom was recently awarded a GSM-based mobile services concession for all of India’s 22 circles.
