Telkom selects Alca-Lu for Ethernet deployment

27 May 2008

Indonesian telecoms operator PT Telkom has selected Alcatel-Lucent to supply it with a country-wide carrier Ethernet service solution. The deal will enable the operator to offer advanced services to businesses, over a unified internet protocol (IP)/multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) network infrastructure. Alca-Lu will deploy nearly 300 exchanges in greater Jakarta, West Java, Kalimantan and Sumatra, in a deal that will create the largest carrier Ethernet network in the country. The new Multiservice network will deliver Ethernet virtual private networks (VPNs) and IP-VPN services to enterprises, as well as circuit emulation for consolidating legacy enterprise applications. The Paris-based vendor is delivering its 7750 Service Router, 7450 Ethernet Service Switch, 7250 Service Access Switch and 7705 Service Aggregation Router under the contract, all of which will be managed by the Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware Manager.
