GVT launches fixed line, broadband services in Contagem, Minas Gerais

Brazilian telephony and internet provider Global Village Telecom (GVT) has launched fixed telephony and broadband services in Contagem, in Minas Gerais state, writes BNamericas citing a company statement. The operator picked Contagem based on what it sees as the city’s high growth potential. Contagem has around 700,000 inhabitants and is located within the metropolitan area of the state capital Belo Horizonte. GVT has invested BRL20 million (USD12 million) this year to get the new service off the ground. It has installed 18,000 access points with capacity for up to 14,000 broadband and 18,000 voice lines.
