NSN inks 3G network deal with TIM Brasil

Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has won a contract to supply W-CDMA and HSPA equipment to Brazilian mobile operator TIM Brasil. No financial details of the contract have been disclosed. It is understood NSN will be the sole provider of 2G and 3G packet core network equipment for the whole country and the main radio access network supplier to the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Parana, Santa Catarina, Pernambuco, Paraiba, Alagoas, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceara, Maranhao, Piaui, Para, Amazonas, Roraima and Amapa. TIM Brasil’s networks will be upgraded with Flexi base stations, which will allow it to significantly reduce network deployment and operational costs.
