French mobile operator SFR could initiate a buyout of minority shareholders in alternative telecoms operator neuf Cegetel by mid-May, reports Thomson Financial citing SFR chief executive Frank Esser as saying in an interview with Le Figaro. The SFR man said his firm was waiting for regulatory approval to launch the buyout. If sanctioned, Esser said the transaction could be completed by mind-June. Vivendi-backed SFR already owns close to 80% of neuf Cegetel.
