US cable operator Charter Communications has narrowed its first-quarter loss to USD358 million, down from USD381 million a year ago on the back of a rise in customer numbers and increased customer spending. Revenues were up 9.8% to USD1.56 billion. Charter had 5.2 million basic TV customers, three million digital TV customers, 2.8 million broadband internet subscribers and almost 1.1 million telephony customers at the end of March.
