Subscriber growth boosts MetroPCS

7 May 2008

The US flat-rate cellular provider MetroPCS has posted an 8.7% increase in first-quarter net profits as subscriber growth continues. Income for the three months to the end of March grew from USD36.4 million in 2007 to USD39.5 million this year, while revenues jumped 23% to USD662.4 million. 451,733 net new subscribers were added in the period, taking the total customer base to 4.4 million. The gains were driven by network expansions in Los Angeles and a new launch in Las Vegas.
