7 May 2008

Filipino 3G mobile start-up Connectivity Unlimited Resource Enterprise Inc (CURE) has selected 3ple-Media to supply it with its Mercury multimedia platform to support its commercial launch – scheduled for this year. 3ple-Media says its multimedia platform allows operators, content providers and media companies to launch new, advanced services quickly using any number of multimedia bearers and tap a variety of new revenue streams. CURE, now owned by PLDT’s Smart Communications, says it plans to use the third generation network to grow its wireless broadband business. PLDT and Smart CEO Napoleon Nazareno said there are now over 1.2 million subscribers using its 3G mobile network, with about 500,000 regular users as of first quarter of 2008. Smart acquired CURE from PH Communications Holdings Corp and Francom Holdings in March 2008 for PHP419.54 million (USD9.88 million).
