neuf Cegetel reports rising first-quarter sales, driven by Club Internet purchase

1 May 2008

French alternative telecoms operator neuf Cegetel, currently the subject of a takeover by Vivendi’s SFR mobile unit, posted a 13% rise in turnover in the three months ended 31 March 2008 compared to restated sales for 1Q07. neuf Cegetel said sales reached EUR893 million (USD1.39 billion) in the period under review, up from EUR801 million a year ago, a figure which it says was adjusted from EUR782 million as a result of a new financial reporting methodology. Excluding the impact of the acquisition of French ISP Club Internet, the company’s sales were up 6% year-on-year, it said. neuf Cegetel’s Mass Market operation posted a 46% y-o-y rise in sales to EUR434 million (up 23% excluding Club Internet), while turnover at its Enterprise business climbed 5% to EUR272 million; wholesale revenues dipped 17% to EUR245 million.
