Little Rock, Arkansas-based US wireline carrier Windstream has boosted data transmission speeds on its broadband internet network. The firm says it now offers peak speeds of 12Mbps in certain parts of its 16-state service area, while it has also expanded the availability of its 6Mbps and 3Mbps access options. The 3Mbps service is available to virtually all households within range of Windstream’s broadband networks. ‘Windstream experienced a four-fold increase in internet usage in 2007 as our broadband customer base grew 28% year-over-year,’ said Ric Crane, executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
