Slovenian mobile operator Mobitel has announced that it has upgraded its entire 3G network with HSPA technology, covering nearly 73% of the population. The 3.5G platform, based on High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and its upstream counterpart HSUPA, enables data downloading/uploading at maximum speeds of 7.2Mbps/1.4 Mbps. Mobitel, a wholly owned subsidiary of fixed line incumbent Telekom Slovenije, says it intends to expand its W-CDMA/HSPA network further.
