Brazil’s telecoms regulator Anatel has given Embratel the go-ahead to provide direct-to-home (DTH) satellite pay-TV services in the country. In a statement, the watchdog said its decision would become effective when it publishes its next official gazette. Emabratel’s concession will allow it to deliver the full gamut of visual and audio content. As part of the deal the operator intends to distribute in all its packages an educational channel for public schools across Brazil. Embratel will also supply a satellite dish, encoder box and a TV for 2,000 public schools selected by the federal government.
