USD60 million for Libyan WiMAX network

24 Apr 2008

Libya Telecom & Technology (LTT), a provider of fixed, mobile and internet services across Libya, has contracted Alcatel-Lucent (Alca-Lu) to supply a WiMAX network. LTT said the network is to be installed in 18 large towns and cities, including the capital Tripoli, and will serve an area of 1.8 million square kilometres. The contract is worth almost USD60 million, and follows a EUR90 million (USD122 million) contract awarded in July 2007 for Alca-Lu to build a national fibre-optic network in the country.
