MBMS trial completed

Telecom Italia has completed Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) technical field trials in conjunction with Huawei and Qualcomm. MBMS technology is based on 3GPP standards, allowing speeds of up to 256kbps per channel on mobile devices. The new MBMS technology will utilise existing UMTS/HSPA networks and frequencies over four channels allowing the operator to offer more mobile multimedia multicast/broadcast and interactive services to its subscribers.
