According to DigiTimes, four of Taiwan’s licensed WiMAX operators – Global Mobile, Vastar Cable TV System, Tatung Telecom and First International Telecom (Fitel) – have formed the Consortium of Mobile Broadband (CMB), with the aim of facilitating the development of the WiMAX industry in Taiwan. The group is reported to be planning to invite other telecom operators and WiMAX licensees, including Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) and WiMAX Telecom, to join. The CMB aims to strengthen cooperation among the WiMAX licensees, including exploring the possibility of sharing base stations.
