U Mobile, Malaysia’s newest 3G wireless network operator, has launched commercially having trialled its network in the Klang Valley since September. U Mobile, in which South Korea’s KTF and NTT DoCoMo of Japan invested a combined USD200 million to purchase a 33% joint stake last December, held a ceremony to launch the 3G service in Kuala Lumpur. By 2010 U Mobile hopes to have signed up 3.1 million customers.
