CTBC launches 3G

CTBC launched services over its W-CDMA network yesterday, according to a company statement. The cellco, which acquired its 3G concession last December for BRL32 million (USD19 million), will initially provide next generation services in the cities of Uberlandia and Uberaba in the state of Minas Gerais, and Franca in Sao Paulo state. From August 2008 coverage will be extended to a further 14 municipalities in the states of Minas Gerais, Goias, Mato Grosso do Sul and Sao Paulo.
