SFR denies job cuts planned

8 Apr 2008

French mobile operator SFR has denied press reports that the cellco’s takeover of alternative telco neuf Cegetel could lead to 2,000 job losses. Without citing sources, weekly La Lettre de l’Expansion had suggested that the merger might lead to job cuts in SFR’s antenna activities and in the two companies’ customer service departments. In a statement responding to the claim, however, the Vivendi subsidiary was adamant that ‘no redundancy programme is planned and no target for staff cuts has been set’.
