Kordia to deploy New Zealand’s second international link

7 Apr 2008

The state-owned New Zealand telco Kordia has signed a deal to lay an undersea cable link between New Zealand and Australia. Kordia will work with Pipe Networks of Australia to deploy the trans-Tasman cable link. The new cable will be the first competition for New Zealand’s existing international cable connection, the Southern Cross Cable Network, which is part-owned by Telecom New Zealand. The new 240Gbps cable will connect into a link between Sydney and Guam which is currently being laid by Pipe networks.
