Videotron reports growth figures

Quebec-based cableco Videotron has reported strong operational growth figures for the quarter ended 31 March 2008, with its customer base growing across all of its four service areas: cable television, high speed internet access, cable telephony and MVNO mobile packages. At the end of March Videotron had a basic cable TV user base of 1.652 million, a quarter-over-quarter increase of 34,600. In the first three months of 2008, it posted a net increase of 34,600 digital TV subscribers, bringing the total to 803,000. Videotron’s cable modem internet customers increased by 32,300, or 3% q-o-q in Q1 2008 to reach 965,300, whilst its local cable telephony user base rose by 55,300 to 691,600. The cableco’s MVNO service, offered over Rogers’ GSM network, ended the quarter with 50,600 customers, with a net 5,500 users signing up during the period.
