AT&T has won a USD1.6 billion slice of a global communications contract from the petroleum company Royal Dutch Shell. T-Systems and EDS also won major contracts as part of the USD4 billion overall deal which will run for five years. AT&T will manage and maintain Shell’s international communications infrastructure and global mobility needs. It is one of the largest commercial contracts ever signed by AT&T, and the largest it has signed in Europe. The US carrier’s other major deal wins in the past year include contracts with Starbucks, IBM, General Motors and the US Treasury Department.
