Indosat reports 24% rise in Q4 net profit

Indonesia’s second largest telecoms company Indosat has reported a 23.6% year-on-year rise in profit for the three months ended 31 December 2007, driven by strong subscribers gains at the group’s mobile arm Satelindo. Indosat reported a 47% rise in mobile customers last year to around 24.5 million, eclipsing the domestic industry average of 38%, and helping drive up net income to IDR596.9 billion (USD64.9 million), up from IDR482.9 billion in Q4 2006 (based on Reuters’ estimates). Indosat, which is 40% owned by Asia Mobile Holdings, posted fourth quarter revenue of IDR4.61 trillion, up 36.9% y-o-y. Full-year revenue was up 34.7% at IDR16.49 trillion, generating net income of IDR2.04 trillion in the process.
