28 Mar 2008

International pre-paid mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Lycamobile is celebrating the addition of its millionth customer, having added 400,000 users to its ranks in the last three months alone. The company claims it is on track to achieve its target of acquiring seven million global subscribers. Lycamobile consumers simply buy a Lycamobile SIM which allows them to call internationally at substantially lower prices than standard mobile telephony, residential fixed line or calling card rates. Top-up cards are available in retail outlets, online or through EPOS providers. Initially launched in the Netherlands in June 2006, Lycamobile now claims to be generating over 54 million mobile originated minutes per month. Lycamobile will be rolled out across Europe via strategic partnerships with mobile network operators in Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and the rest of Europe.
