Russian telcos Center Telecom and SkyLink have signed a general cooperation agreement for the development and implementation of a joint programme in Russia’s Central Federal District. The companies will sell products based on Center Telecom’s IMT-MC-450 mobile network under the SkyLink brand, while existing SkyLink products and new products especially developed for Center Telecom will be available at the latter’s retail outlets.
The companies will also work together to develop the IMT-MC-450 mobile network in the Bryansk, Smolensk, Kursk, Lipetsk, Belgorod, Orel, and Tambov regions and develop joint services on the basis of fixed-mobile convergence.
Gulnara Khasyanova, SkyLink’s general director, said, ‘The market for mobile data transmission is growing 50% annually, and this is much bigger than the rate of growth for the fixed line telecoms market. This is a good motivation for the launch of new competitive products including products based on fixed-mobile convergence’.
