According to a statement released by the New Zealand Government, Communications and Information Technology Minister David Cunliffe has received Telecom New Zealand’s revised ‘Separation Plan’. ‘Telecom NZ has provided me with its revised Separation Plan, which I will now review in terms of the Notice of Requirements I issued on 29 February 2008 and my Determination,’ said the minister. The telco announced a NZD1.4 billion (USD1.1 billion) plan to split into separate, retail and network divisions in October 2007, but this was rejected on 29 February 2008 for not going far enough. A ruling on the freshly proposed plan will be made by 31 March 2008.
