America Movil's Argentinean subsidiary reveals investment

The Argentine unit of America Movil will invest USD273 million this year as part of a relaunch in the country under the name Claro, the company said on Tuesday. Claro, which was called CTI Movil in Argentina, said it planned to extend its 3G and GSM coverage, open new customer service centres and develop new services. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, CTI ended 2007 with an estimated 13.25 million subscribers in Argentina, placing it second in the market, slightly behind Movistar.
