Batelco’s joint venture wireline licensee in Saudi Arabia says it plans to launch its first services by the end of the year. Etihad Atheeb Telecommunication Company, of which Batelco is a founding partner, has signed contracts worth USD333 million for the first phase of its planned next generation intelligent network infrastructure in the Kingdom. ‘Batelco staff are currently going full steam ahead to ensure the delivery of services by the end of Q4 this year,’ said Batelco Chief Executive Peter Kaliaropoulos. Contracts have been signed with Motorola for the deployment of an 802.16e WiMAX wireless broadband network, ZTE for core network solutions and Wipro for IT services.
