17 Mar 2008

Terra, a Brazilian internet service provider and wholly owned subsidiary of Telefonica of Spain, reported net revenues of BRL767 million (USD452 million) in its fiscal year ending 31 December 2007, up 32.4% from BRL579 million in 2006. In a statement Terra said the rise in sales was bolstered by its multimedia website which recorded a 31% hike in advertising revenues on the back of a 49% rise in visitors to an average of 23 million per month in 2007. In the current financial year Terra plans to invest in the company’s website content, with a focus on Terra TV which last year concluded partnership deals with the likes of Disney, Turner and Fox for exclusive content. It is also anticipating an upsurge in mobile content and services in 2008, once the launch of 3G technology gets into full swing.
