Macquarie Media sells Taiwan Broadband stake

17 Mar 2008

The Australian investment firm Macquarie Media Group (MMG) has sold off its 60% interest in Taiwanese cable network operator Taiwan Broadband Communications (TBC) for around AUD400 million (USD373 million). The stake has been acquired by another Macquarie Group managed fund. MMG says it will also receive around AUD239 million net distribution from a refinancing of TBC which was carried out last August. TBC is one of the country’s largest cable operators, with five regional networks in northern and central Taiwan which pass approximately one million homes.
