Russia’s communications minister, Leonid Reiman, says he expects the privatisation of the state’s telecoms holding company Svyazinvest to be discussed once the government has completed a restructuring in the next few months. The sale of the state’s 75% stake in the holding company has been mooted for years. Svyazinvest holds controlling stakes in all of Russia’s so-called ‘mega-regional’ operators: Center Telecom, North-West Telecom, Volga Telecom, South Telecom, Uralsvyazinform, Siberia Telecom (Sibirtelecom) and Far East Telecom (Dalnevostochnaya).
