New Zealand state-owned broadband internet provider Orcon is installing equipment in the first five Telecom exchanges to be unbundled. CEO Scott Bartlett said last month that Orcon would soon be able to offer a service to 250,000 households and businesses in Auckland. The company is expected to offer ADSL2+ equipment capable of providing broadband speeds of up to 24 Mbps of VDSL technology.

Vodafone-owned broadband provider ihug has also carried out ULL trials but said it would wait until more exchanges were unbundled before offering a commercial service.
