13 Mar 2008

Ancel, the mobile arm of Uruguay’s state-owned telco Antel, has deployed 48 new base stations since the beginning of 2008 to expand its mobile coverage, reports BNamericas, quoting a statement on the presidential website. Eleven of the new aerials have been deployed in Montevideo, with the remainder in other provinces. Some 26 of the transmitters are used for the provision of 3G services, while the others are for the cellco’s GSM service.
