12 Mar 2008

Spanish cellco Yoigo has announced that it has signed a five year network sharing agreement with Telefonica Espana to take effect from 1 June 2008. The agreement will allow Yoigo to extend its 2G and 3G coverage to areas it cannot currently reach. As it stands, Yoigo has coverage of 42% of the Spanish population via 1,800 base stations across 19 provinces. It has plans to increase this to 50% by the end of 2008 and expects the agreement with Telefonica to greatly boost take up of its 3G services.
