PTI Pacifica, the Guam-based telecoms unit of Filipino businessman Ricardo Delgado, has acquired one of PTI’s rivals in the western Pacific US territory, IT&E, for an undisclosed amount. Once the transaction is complete PTI will become the largest telecoms company in Micronesia, with estimated revenues of USD70 million. The company said the combined infrastructure and assets would allow it to offer the latest technology and a wider range of products and services to customers in Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). Under the deal, the IT&E brand will continue to operate for the time being and current customers will ‘experience a seamless transition’ after the acquisition is finalised in the next three to six months, according to a company statement. PTI Pacifica plans to expand and upgrade both its CDMA and GSM networks in Guam, and the completion of a microwave backbone throughout Guam and Rota, Tinian and Saipan of CNMI.
