Lithuanian telecoms market grows by 10% over 2007

Lithuania’s Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT) has said that telecoms companies posted LTL2.97 billion (USD1.32 billion) in aggregate revenues during 2007, a rise of 10.3% from LTL2.70 billion a year ago. Cellcos raised LTL1.387 billion, accounting for almost a half of overall revenues in the sector. The number of active mobile phone subscribers rose by 4.3% in 2007 to 4.92 million, which translates into a penetration rate of 146% at the year end. The combined revenues of wireline operators declined by 2.8% year-on-year to LTL412.7 million, although the number of fixed lines increased slightly to 799,400. ISPs posted LTL313.0 million in full-year revenues, up 18.1% year-on-year. The number of subscribers to computer-based internet access soared by 39% to 581,900. Cablecos earned LTL71.7 million in 2007, while data transmission services (excluding internet access) raised a total of LTL55.6 million in 2007. Overall investment in the telecoms market rose by 4% year-on-year in 2007, to LTL546.6 million.
