CTI Movil deploys six new base stations

Uruguayan cellco CTI Movil, owned by Mexico’s America Movil, has deployed six new base stations in the country, according to BNamericas, quoting local newspaper El Espectador. Four of the new transmitters were installed in Montevideo with the other two in the provinces. The mobile operator now has approximately 350 base stations nationwide. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, CTI Movil, which launched 3G services last November, had approximately 650,000 subscribers at the end of September 2007, giving it a 22% market share and placing it third behind Ancel and Movistar Uruguay.
