Arcor dips toe into VDSL waters

7 Mar 2008

Fixed network operator Arcor plans to deploy a VDSL network in two small municipalities in Thuringa as pilot projects, reports Telecompaper. The Vodafone subsidiary hopes to activate the networks by the middle of this year; neither municipality currently has any broadband internet access. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Arcor is Germany’s largest alternative facilities-based fixed line operator, providing retail and resale services to businesses and consumers over a nationwide access network. It is 76.3%-owned by Vodafone.
