Further details on AT&T’s USD1 billion spending plan

As reported yesterday, AT&T has announced plans for a USD1 billion investment in 2008. Its main focus for CAPEX will be the expansion of its IP networks worldwide; as well as the construction of a new undersea fibre-optic link to Japan, the company will invest in submarine cables to other parts of Asia and Australia and import existing cable servicing in India and the Middle East. It will also introduce a new global VPN product to 14 cities, including all major western European capitals and Tokyo, Hong, Kong, Singapore and Sydney in 2008, with an Ethernet presence in 39 countries by the end of the year.
