3 Mar 2008

Saudi Arabia’s third national cellular licensee, Saudi Zain, has awarded a USD335 million turnkey contract to Motorola for the provision and management of parts of its 2G and 3G networks. Having already handed a USD935 million network rollout deal to Nokia in January, Saudi Zain has called on Motorola to supply GSM and HSPA equipment, as well as comprehensive managed services for network design, integration, deployment, operations and maintenance. Zain plans to launch by the middle of this year, and will compete against established operators STC and Mobily.
