Maxis completes NFC trials

Malaysian telco Maxis Communications has announced the successful conclusion of near field communication (NFC) trials which have been running since October 2007 in the Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur. The trial demonstrated mobile handsets being used for multi-payment service, including credit card and transport payments. Maxis reported it will launch the service commercially in the second half of 2008.
