Mediacom narrows annual net losses

US cable operator Mediacom Communications has reported an increased net loss in the fourth quarter of 2007, due mainly to higher operating costs. Losses rose from USD3.6 million in 4Q 2006 to USD36.9 million in the most recent period, although revenues were up 6% at USD332.5 million. Net losses for the full year dropped from USD124.9 million to USD95.1 million, while sales were up 7% year-on-year at USD1.29 billion. The firm reported 2.72 million revenue generating units (RGUs) at end-2007, an annual gain of 133,000, including 658,000 cable internet customers and 185,000 telephony subscribers.
