CTI may be renamed Claro

26 Feb 2008

Mexican cellular group America Movil (AM) is considering rebranding its Argentinean unit CTI Movil with the Claro moniker it uses in much of Latin America, reports BNamericas, quoting local newspaper Infobae. The CTI Movil name is currently used by AM’s operations in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. The move would form part of a company strategy to unify marketing campaigns.

CTI Movil’s operations in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay generated revenues of ARS1.68 billion (USD531 million) in the fourth quarter of 2007, a 35% increase year-on-year. At 31 December 2007, it had 14.6 million customers across the three markets, up 34.4% compared to a year earlier.
