UOL announces 2007 results; net income climbs 18%, broadband base up 35%

Brazilian online media portal and internet company Universo Online (UOL) says 2007 net income reached BRL109.4 million (USD63.8 million), representing growth of 18% on the previous year, while the number of paying broadband subscribers stood at 973,000 by 31 December 2007, up 23% over December 2006. Advertising and other revenues reached BRL191.7 million in 2007, an increase of 28% year-on-year. EBITDA totalled BRL153.3 million in the twelve months to December 2007, 12% higher than in 2006, and the EBITDA margin of 29% was roughly unchanged on the year before. Excluding non-recurring items in both years, 2007 EBITDA increased by 19% y-o-y it said.
