Porta ordered to pay USD40 million in back taxes

BNamericas reports that Ecuadorian mobile operator Porta has been ordered to pay USD40 million in back taxes by the nation’s tax agency SRI. The cellco has 20 day to repay the money, although SRI director Carlos Marx Carrasco has indicated that the amount could double once the agency has the results of the final study. SRI has reportedly found 13 instances in which Porta had not correctly paid its taxes.
