Excelcom reports rising revenues, earnings in 2007

Indonesian mobile operator PT Excelcomindo (Excelcom) yesterday reported its full-year financial results for 2007, posting a 38% year-on-year rise in revenues to IDR8 trillion (USD873 million), which exceeded expectations. The strong rise in sales was mirrored by a 37% increase in EBITDA to IDR3.5 trillion as the company expanded its subscriber base to 15.5 million (up 62% y-o-y) and more than doubled its minutes of usage to 6.8 billion. Net profit was IDR721 billion, up from IDR336 billion the previous year, and higher than analyst forecasts of IDR610.9 billion. CAPEX for the full year came in at IDR7.1 trillion, enabling the operator to add 3,897 base transceiver stations (BTSs) to its network to boost the total to 11,157, providing coverage of 90% of the population.
