Digital video networking developer Scopus Video Networks says it has inked a deal with FB Cable Holdings, a Budapest-based holding company with CATV and internet access operations in central and eastern Europe, for the deployment of Scopus’ headend solution for a digital upgrade in Hungary and Bulgaria. The two deals cover FB Cable Holdings’ FiberNet Hungary and Eurocom Bulgaria subsidiaries, PR Newswire reports. The vendor’s headend products are designed to enable CATV providers to increase revenues by improving efficiency, as well as providing enhanced functionality to deliver video-on-demand (VoD) and HDTV services. Fibernet’s headend comprises IP-based platforms broadcasting more than 90 channels across the country as well as delivering broadband internet access and voice telephony, while Sofia-based Eurocom distributes 74 channels to Sofia and Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s second largest city.
FN Cable is a leading cable TV, broadband internet access and VoIP provider serving approximately 500,000 basic TV customers and 75,000 broadband internet subscribers across the central Europe region. FiberNet was established in 1999 and extended its activities to other central and eastern European markets with the acquisition of Eurocom Cable, the largest cable television operator in Sofia, Bulgaria, and Falstap in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.
