Vodafone talks with Arcor shareholders ‘progressing well’

19 Feb 2008

Thomson News reports that the efforts by UK-based Vodafone Group to buy out minority shareholdings of Deutsche Bahn and Deutsche Bank in German fixed line and internet subsidiary Arcor are progressing well. No source for the information was cited. National rail operator Deutsche Bahn owns 18% of Arcor, while Deutsche Bank holds 8%. Vodafone owns the rest. Recent reports in the German press have speculated that the UK group has offered EUR400 million (USD586.5 million) to Deutsche Bahn, which wants EUR500 million. It is also rumoured that Arcor could be renamed Vodafone some time next year as the UK business harmonises its branding in Germany.
