The Oman Times reports that incumbent telco Omantel and Oman Mobile, the cellco spun off from Omantel four years ago, are looking to integrate the management of the two companies. Sultan bin Hamdoun Al Harthi, chairman of Omantel and Oman Mobile, said that the move was part of the implementation of recommendations made by a ministerial committee established to develop the performance of both Omantel and Oman Mobile. The first phase of the merger process will take ten months, and will focus on integrated operation in order to best achieve the synergies between the businesses, build internal capabilities and improve operational efficiencies, said Hamdoun.
